Painter Veronica Brown grew up in rural Missouri, which allowed her to be around horses of all kinds, including with her grandfather, who would harness, work and care for a team of draft horses. Those subjects are now part of her studio.

Sharing, oil on linen panel, 10 x 8 in.
“Like most creatives, I get excited about color, light, pattern and shape, as well as certain subject matter and the memories that it evokes,” Brown says. “I want to show the viewer that the eyes of both man and critter can show a personality, that lighting can be everything, and that there is a vast amount of subtle, often unexpected color in nature. I want to open the viewer’s eyes...I want to paint a moment, or capture a feeling, but not an exact copy of what is before me.”

Not Just Pretty Faces, oil on gallery-wrapped canvas, 24 x 24 in.
Brown is a member of numerous arts organizations, including the Oil Painters of America, American Women Artists, American Plains Artists, Cowgirl Artists of America and the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society. —
